What is this position about?
ALM Treasury (ALMT) has a unique position within the BNP Paribas, it is a Transversal Activity present throughout the Group in more than 50 countries, with around 700 employees fulfilling 3 operational missions:
• managing the Group’s liquidity position, both in business-as-usual conditions and in crisis situations
• managing the interest rate risks in the banking book
• managing operational and structural foreign exchange risks
ALMT to operates in the financial markets and partners with all the Group’s entities.
Primary Role Responsibilities
• Assist with the management of the liquidity and funding operations of ALMT, for both ALMT own activities and the funding of business lines (Global Banking, Global Markets and Securities Services)
• Assist with the management of FX positions arising from day-to-day activities, and monthly FX hedging of business PNL in foreign currency (sell down)
• Assist with the publication of internal pricing grids and various operational duties
• Assist with them management of Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB) and in the execution of interest rate risk hedging operations,
• Propose and implement market optimization strategies
• Conduct analysis of financial markets & their evolution, particularly those related to risks managed by ALM Treasury (interest rates, FX, sovereign bond markets)
• Perform PNL analysis/attribution, analysis of the balance sheet and its evolution
• Contribute to processes related to regular management reporting for presentation to ALCO and regional management,
• Understand and be able to explain the balance sheet of BNPP Australia
• Assist across the various areas of operational risk and control for ALMT activities
• Contribute to ALMT and wider Group projects
• Ensure compliance with trader mandate, ALM Treasury policies, risk/credit limits and banking laws
• Assist in managing local liquidity ratios and indicators (Liquidity Coverage Requirement, stress tests; …)
• Assist in managing intraday liquidity for local currency cash clearing activity
• Manage (propose and execute buffer investments) and monitor collateral portfolio (regulatory and Central Bank eligible), both for payment/clearing purposes and for monetization goals
• Anticipate and assist the head of ALMT Treasury Australia to manage crisis situations ensure good knowledge of the Reserve Bank of Australia liquidity accesses and activate them when appropriate
Other contributions
• To contribute to the bank’s business growth by collaborating with other business lines regarding their funding needs
• To contribute to the development/maintenance of relationships with the local monetary authority, the government regulatory officials, and the interbank counterparties
• To contribute to local ALCO preparation and presentation, including but not limited to the Strategic Funding Plan of the branch
• To contribute to ALMT budget preparation and follow up
• Participate in relevant TAC/NACs, RISK Committees where required
Group Reputation
• Protect the Group’s name and reputation in the marketplace, notably through an adequate pricing policy.
• Direct contribution to BNPP operational control framework: implementation of operational permanent control policies and procedures, team members’ compliance with regulatory requirements and internal guidelines
• Implementation and regular review of all required processes related to ALM Treasury activities Index Contributions, where relevant.
What is required for you to succeed?
• Extensive experience within Banking and Finance
• Strong experience within Treasury
• Tertiary qualification within a related discipline
• Masters / MBA preferred
• Expert understanding of the Australian market regulations / regulators
• Technical/professional knowledge & proficiency
• Strong numerical skills
• Strong Risk Management awareness and astute judgement
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Team player, proactive and enthusiastic self-starter, strong interpersonal skills
